August Lass (born August 16, 1903 – died November 27, 1962) was a talented Estonian football player. He was known for being a great goalkeeper, which is the player who protects the goal. He played for Estonia's national team and won several championships with his clubs.
August Lass's Football Journey
August Lass played for the Estonian national team from 1921 to 1928. He played in 21 international matches, which are called "caps" in football. He was a key player for two important Estonian clubs: JK Tallinna Kalev and Tallinna Jalgpalliklubi.
He even got to play in the 1924 Summer Olympics, which is a huge honor for any athlete. August Lass helped his teams win the Estonian championship multiple times. He won with JK Tallinna Kalev in 1923. Later, he won two more championships with Tallinna JK in 1926 and 1928.
During a difficult time in history, August Lass faced some challenges. He was unable to stay in his home country for a few years starting in 1941. He returned in 1947, but then had to leave again from 1949 to 1955. Despite these difficulties, he is remembered as an important figure in Estonian football history.
