Aurora Tower is a very tall building, known as a skyscraper, located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It stands 207 metres (about 679 feet) high. When it was finished in 2006, it was the tallest building in Brisbane. It held this title until 2011, when another building called Soleil became taller.

About Aurora Tower
Aurora Tower has 69 floors. These floors are home to many different types of apartments. There are four floors with 18 large, fancy apartments called penthouses. There are also 54 "skyhomes," which are luxury apartments spread over two floors. On top of that, there are 408 regular apartments.
Cool Features for Residents
People living in Aurora Tower can enjoy some great facilities. The building has a heated swimming pool, a special area for entertainment, and even a cinema. These features are just for the residents to use and enjoy. Aurora Tower officially opened its doors on May 5, 2006.
Building Design and Challenges
When Aurora Tower was designed, it was planned to use special iris recognition technology for security. This technology would use a person's eye pattern to let them in. However, this system has not yet been used. The building also had some issues with its intercom system and lifts (elevators) not working perfectly. Another thing some people have pointed out is that there aren't enough car parks (parking spaces) for all the residents.
Because the building is so tall and thin, its designers had to do special tests. They used "wind tunnel testing" to make sure people would be comfortable at the top, even on windy days. They also used other new design and building methods to make sure the slender tower was strong and safe.
Location and Nearby Attractions
Aurora Tower is in a great spot in Brisbane. It's very close to important transport places, like the Central railway station. This makes it easy for residents to get around the city.
The tower is also near many popular shopping areas. Places like QueensPlaza, Queen Street Mall, Wintergarden, and Elizabeth Street are all nearby. These areas offer lots of shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
From inside Aurora Tower, residents can see famous Brisbane landmarks. These include the Story Bridge, Central Plaza 1, and Brisbane City Hall. The views from the tower are quite impressive.
Changes in Management
In January 2008, the group that manages the building, called the body corporate, told apartment owners that a company called the Oaks Group had taken over the building's management. At the same time, the Oaks Group asked the Brisbane City Council if they could change the building's purpose to include short-term hotel stays. This made some residents worried that the building's facilities might become too crowded with hotel guests.
The Original Plan for the Site
Interestingly, the spot where Aurora Tower now stands was once considered for a different building back in 1992. This proposed building was called the "Brisbane 2000 tower." It was planned to be 250 metres (about 820 feet) tall. If it had been built, it would have been one of the tallest buildings in Australia at that time.
