The Regionalliga West is an exciting football league in Austria. It's one of three leagues that are considered the third-highest level of football in the country. Teams from three Austrian regions play here: Vorarlberg, Tyrol (specifically North Tyrol), and Salzburg. This league first started in the 1980/81 football season.

The champions of the three Regionalliga leagues get a chance to play against the 9th-place team from the second-highest league (the First League). If they win, they can move up! However, some teams, like the junior or amateur teams of big professional clubs, are not allowed to be promoted. For example, the Red Bull Juniors, who were champions in a past season, stayed in this league because they are the amateur team of a professional club.

Who Plays in the Regionalliga West?

The Regionalliga West is home to many different football clubs from the Vorarlberg, Tyrol, and Salzburg regions. These teams often include local clubs and also the amateur (or "Juniors") teams of bigger professional clubs. Playing in this league helps young players develop their skills and get ready for higher levels of football.
