A Brief History of Aveley

Aveley became an official suburb on 6 September 2006. Before this, it was part of the Ellenbrook area. The name "Aveley" comes from a town in England.

How Aveley Got Its Name

In 1897, a man named George Hardey Barrett Lennard bought land in this area. He named his property "Belhus." This name came from his family's estate in Belhus, Essex, England. The suburb of Aveley was later named after the English town where that estate was located.

Aveley is surrounded by several roads and natural features. To the south, you'll find Gnangara Road and Lake Yakine. The Ellen Brook and Chateau Place are to the east. To the north are The Broadway, Doig Road, and Cashman Avenue. Henley Brook Avenue forms the western border.
