Axial is a "ghost town" located in Moffat County, Colorado, United States. It used to be a busy town where people mined coal.
History of Axial
Axial had its own post office for many years. It opened on March 6, 1883. The post office helped people send and receive mail.
The post office closed much later, on April 30, 1958. The town was named 'Axial' because it was in a central spot. It was like the "axis" or center of all the coal mining in the area.
