Ayesha Rascoe, born on June 10, 1985, is an American journalist. She is well-known for hosting Weekend Edition Sunday on NPR. Before this, she worked as an NPR White House correspondent. She also reported on the Obama White House for Reuters.

Ayesha Rascoe's Early Life and Education

Ayesha Rascoe grew up in Durham, North Carolina. She attended Carrington Middle School and Southern High School. At Southern High, she was the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. She also wrote columns for the teen section of The Herald-Sun. She even had an internship at the Winston-Salem Journal.

In 2007, Ayesha graduated from Howard University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in journalism. While at Howard, she was also the editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Hilltop.

Ayesha Rascoe's Journalism Career

Ayesha Rascoe began her reporting career at Reuters. There, she focused on environmental policy. She covered important events like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. She also reported on the response to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011.

Rascoe joined NPR in 2017. As a White House correspondent, her stories were often heard on NPR shows. These included Morning Edition and All Things Considered. She also appeared regularly on NPR's Politics Podcast.

In March 2022, she started hosting NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday. She also became a co-host for the Saturday edition of their Up First podcast with Scott Simon. On June 11, 2023, she took over from Rachel Martin as the host of Up First's The Sunday Story.

Ayesha Rascoe has also appeared on other TV shows. These include Washington Week, Meet The Press, CNN, and MSNBC.

She also edited a book called HBCU Made: A Celebration of the Black College Experience. This book, released on January 30, 2024, is a collection of essays. It features stories from people who graduated from historically Black colleges and universities.

Ayesha Rascoe married Patrick Trice in 2012. Patrick is a U.S. veteran. Ayesha and Patrick have three children.
