About Aytaç Yalman
Aytaç Yalman was a high-ranking officer in the Turkish Army. He held two very important jobs. From 2000 to 2002, he was the General Commander of the Gendarmerie of Turkey. This is like being in charge of a national police force that also has military duties.
Later, from 2002 to 2004, he became the Commander of the Turkish Army. This meant he was the top leader of all the ground forces in Turkey.
Early Military Career
Yalman started his career in an Artillery unit. Artillery units use large cannons and missiles. He worked with different types of weapons, including big howitzers and ballistic missiles. He learned how to aim and fire these powerful tools.
He served in various places, including the Aegean Army and the Turkish military forces in Northern Cyprus. These experiences helped him gain a lot of knowledge. He also commanded an Infantry Division, which is a large group of soldiers.
Key Roles and Retirement
In 1998, Aytaç Yalman became a General. He was put in charge of the Second Army. This is a very big responsibility. In the same year, he helped represent Turkey in the Adana Agreement. This agreement was about how Turkey and Syria would work together.
After leading the Gendarmerie, he became the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces in 2002. He retired in 2004. He had reached the age limit for military service.
