Beccar is a town in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is located about 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) north of the big city of Buenos Aires. Beccar is part of the San Isidro area within Gran Buenos Aires.
This town is known for its pretty, tree-lined streets and open plazas. You can see many houses with red-tiled roofs, called chalets. There are also tall apartment buildings, especially along Avenida Centenario. Beccar is very close to the Rio de la Plata river coast. It has yacht clubs where people enjoy boating.
Getting around from Beccar is easy. You can walk about 10 minutes to the Punta Chica station. From there, you can take the scenic Tren de la Costa light rail. There is also the Beccar station for the commuter railway. Both lines offer easy access to the center of Buenos Aires city. You can also visit the nearby village of Tigre for a weekend trip.
F.I.N.C.A. Béccar: A Planned Community
In the mid-1930s, a young German immigrant named Dr. Erich Zeyen came to Beccar. He teamed up with his friend, Dr. Germán Wernicke. Together, they started a building company called F.I.N.C.A. Sociedad Anónima Argentina de Ahorro. This name means "Joint Stock Company of Argentina for Savings."
Their small company quickly grew important. They built their first special neighborhood right within Beccar. This area was a "planned community" and was named F.I.N.C.A. Béccar. It was designed to be a well-organized place for people to live.
