The BMT Nassau Street Line is a subway line in Manhattan, New York City. It is part of the New York City Subway system. This line connects Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The Nassau Street Line starts in Brooklyn. It is a continuation of the BMT Jamaica Line after crossing the Williamsburg Bridge. The line then goes south through Manhattan. It joins the BMT Broadway Line before going back to Brooklyn. This happens through the Montague Street Tunnel.
Even though the tracks connect to the Broadway Line south of Broad Street, trains haven't regularly gone past Broad Street station since June 25, 2010. The line is called the Nassau Street Line, but only one station, Fulton Street, is actually on Nassau Street.
The J train uses this line all the time. The Z train also runs on this line during busy travel times. It runs in the direction where most people are going. The M train used to serve the Nassau Street Line more. But since 2010, the M train now uses the Chrystie Street Connection. It runs on the IND Sixth Avenue Line to replace the V train, which was stopped to save money. The M train still stops at one Nassau Street Line station: Essex Street.
