Harjeet Singh "Baba" Sehgal is a famous Indian rapper. Many people say he was the first rapper in India! He also works in movies, TV shows, and music in different languages. In 2006, he was on the TV reality show Bigg Boss.

Baba Sehgal's Journey
Early Life and Start in Music
Baba Sehgal was born and grew up in Lucknow, India. He studied engineering at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. His career in entertainment began in the 1990s. He became part of the Indipop music scene.
His first album was played a lot on MTV India. Since then, he has been a popular rapper. Some of his well-known songs include 'Thanda Thanda Paani', 'Manjula', and 'Dil Dhadke'.
Music Career Highlights
Baba Sehgal's first album was Dilruba in 1990. This was followed by Alibaba in 1991. His biggest hit album was Thanda Thanda Pani in 1992. This album sold 5 million cassettes. It became the first very successful Indian rap album.
He has released many other albums over the years. Some of these include Main Bhi Madonna (1993), Loomba Loomba (1996), and Welcome to Mumbai (2005). Baba Sehgal writes most of the music for his albums himself.
He was also the music director for the movie Dance Party (1995). A popular song from that movie was "kapurthala se aaya hoon". Baba Sehgal was the first Indian artist to have a music video shown on MTV Asia. He also hosted the TV show Superhit Muqabla.
From 2001 to 2005, he lived in New York. When he returned to Mumbai, he released his 22nd album, Welcome to Mumbai. He also directed music for Bollywood films like Bhoot Unkle (2006). Today, he releases new songs on his YouTube channel, "Baba Sehgal Entertainment". Some of his recent songs include Aloo ka Parantha and Going to the Gym.
In January 2024, Baba Sehgal released his own version of "O Mere Dil Ke Chain". This song was originally sung by the famous singer Kishore Kumar.
Acting Roles
Baba Sehgal started acting in films in 1998. His first Bollywood movie was Miss 420. He also sang four songs for this film's soundtrack. In 1999, he played two different characters in the TV film Double Gadbad.
He has appeared in several TV series. These include Jugni Chali Jalandhar (2009) and Rang Badalti Odhani (2011). Baba Sehgal also acted in Telugu films. His Telugu film debut was in Rudhramadevi (2015). He played a police officer in the Tamil film Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016).
As mentioned earlier, he was a contestant on the first season of Bigg Boss 1 in 2006.
