What Does This Frog Look Like?
The Nidirana adenopleura is a medium-sized frog. It grows to about 4.5 centimeters (about 1.8 inches) long from its snout to its bottom. Its upper body is light brown or brownish-green. Its belly is whitish.
A light golden-brown line runs along its body. This line starts at its nose. It goes over its upper eyelid and along a special fold of skin to its hip. The frog also has a yellow stripe on its upper jaw. The sides of its body are light brown or grayish-brown. They might have some dark spots. The frog's eye color is golden on top and reddish-golden below.
Reproduction and Life Cycle
The breeding season for Nidirana adenopleura is from March to September. Male frogs make a very loud call. They start calling after the sun sets. They might even call all night long and sometimes after the sun rises.
Female frogs lay their eggs near the edges of ponds. This helps keep the eggs safe.
Where Do These Frogs Live?
The Nidirana adenopleura's natural habitat (the place where it lives) includes paddy fields. It also lives in marshes, ditches, ponds, and lakes. These places usually have lots of plants growing underwater. These frogs prefer to live in lower areas.
Conservation Status
This frog is a common species. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) does not consider it to be threatened. This means there are still many of them around. However, losing their habitat is a possible danger. When people build on or pollute these areas, it can harm the frogs.
