In the 1990s, Baby Blue Soundcrew became very popular in Toronto. They were famous for their parties and special music mixes called mixtapes. They also performed at school dances. In 2000, the group even became the official DJs for the Toronto Raptors basketball team!
In 2000, the group released their first song, "Money Jane". This song featured famous artists like Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, and Sean Paul. "Money Jane" became very popular in Canada. It won the 2001 MuchMusic Video Award for Best Rap Video.
In December 2000, Baby Blue Soundcrew released their first album, Private Party Collectors Edition. This album included 25 popular urban songs from 2000. It also had five brand new songs by Baby Blue Soundcrew. The album was so successful that it almost sold enough copies to be certified platinum in Canada.
In 2001, the group was nominated for two Juno Awards. These are big music awards in Canada. They were nominated for "Money Jane" and for another song called "Only Be in Love". This second song was a collaboration with Glenn Lewis.
