Baby It's Me is the eighth studio album by the amazing American singer Diana Ross. It was released on September 16, 1977, by Motown Records. This album did very well on the music charts. It reached #18 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #7 on the R&B album chart.
The album was produced by Richard Perry, a well-known music producer. One of the most popular songs from the album was "Gettin' Ready for Love". It became a Top 40 hit in the US, reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other songs like "You Got It" and "Your Love Is So Good for Me" also became popular. "Your Love Is So Good for Me" even received a nomination for a Grammy Award!
This album also featured some special songs. Diana Ross sang her own versions of songs by other famous artists. These included songs originally written and recorded by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Melissa Manchester.
The album became very successful thanks to radio stations that played "Adult Contemporary" music. Both "Gettin' Ready for Love" and "You Got It" were Top 10 hits on that chart. Also, "Your Love Is So Good For Me" was a Top 15 song on the new Billboard Dance charts. Even though the album didn't make it onto the main UK charts, it sold over 60,000 copies there. This earned it a "Silver" certification, which means it sold a lot of copies!
Diana Ross continued to work with producer Richard Perry after this album. They even worked together on a duet with the international singer Julio Iglesias called "All of You" a few years later.
In 2014, Baby It's Me was re-released as an "Expanded Edition." This digital version included 11 extra songs! Some of these were new mixes of the original songs. Others were songs that had never been released before, like "Brass Band," "Country John," "Room Enough For Two," and a cover of Peter Frampton's hit song "Baby, I Love Your Way".
