Badri Teymourtash was born in 1908 in Mashhad, a city in Iran. She came from a well-known family. Her brother, Abdolhossein Teymourtāsh, was a very important political figure during the early years of the Pahlavi Dynasty. This was a time when a new royal family ruled Iran.
In the late 1920s, Badri Teymourtash traveled to Belgium. There, she began her studies at a dental school. She worked hard to learn all about dentistry.
Return to Iran and Challenges
After she finished dental school, Badri Teymourtash thought about moving to the Belgian Congo. She wanted to do humanitarian work there, which means helping people in need.
However, her plans changed. In 1932, her brother, Abdolhossein Teymourtash, faced some difficulties. Because of these challenges, Badri Teymourtash decided to return to Iran. For about eight years, she and her brother's family lived under restricted freedom. They were sent to their family's properties in Khorasan.
In 1941, the ruler of Iran, Reza Shah, stepped down. After this, many people who had faced difficulties were set free. Badri Teymourtash was one of them. She then moved to Mashhad and started her career as a dentist.
Founding a Dental School
Badri Teymourtash was not just a dentist; she was also a visionary. In 1965, she worked with Esmael Sondoozi to create something very special. They founded the School of Dentistry at Mashhad University. This was a huge step for dental education in Iran. It helped train many new dentists.
She continued her important work at the university for many years. Badri Teymourtash retired in 1989. She passed away in 1995.
