Baeza is a small town in Ecuador, a country in South America. It is the main town, or canton seat, of the Quijos Canton in Napo Province. This town is special because it is home to the Quijos-Quichua indigenous people. Baeza is located near the Quijos river.

When Was Baeza Founded?
Baeza was founded a long time ago, on May 14, 1559. An explorer named Gil Ramírez Dávalos established the town. He built it on land that belonged to the Quijos-Quichua people.
Baeza's Importance Over Time
During the 1500s and 1600s, Baeza was a very important place. It was one of the biggest settlements in the Ecuadorian Amazon. However, its importance started to decrease in the 1800s. Even so, Baeza is still a key center today. It helps manage the economy, finances, and trade in the Quijos Valley.
