Bahar Soomekh (Persian: بهار سومخ) is an American actress who used to be in movies and TV shows. She is famous for her roles in the movie Crash and the Saw horror movies. After acting, she became a real estate agent.
Early Life and School
Bahar Soomekh was born in Tehran, Iran. She came from a family that followed the Persian-Jewish faith. In 1979, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, in the United States. This move happened during the Islamic Revolution of Iran, a big change in their home country.
Bahar went to Sinai Akiba Academy and then Beverly Hills High School. After high school, she studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned a degree in environmental studies in 1997.
Her Acting Career
After college, Bahar worked in sales while also taking acting classes. She started her acting journey with small parts on TV shows. These included popular series like JAG and 24.
She soon decided to act full-time. Less than three months later, she got a major role in the movie Crash. This movie won an Academy Award for Best Picture. Her role as Dorri in Crash was a big step for her career.
After Crash, People magazine featured Bahar. They listed her as a "New on the Scene" talent in 2006. She then appeared in other movies like Syriana and Mission: Impossible III. In 2006, she played Dr. Lynn Denlon in the scary movie Saw III.
Bahar also had a repeating role as Margo in the TV series Day Break. She made guest appearances on shows such as Ghost Whisperer and CSI: Crime Crime Investigation. Her last movie role was in Just like a Woman in 2012.
Later, many film jobs moved away from Southern California. Bahar chose to start a new career in real estate. This allowed her to stay close to her family.
Her Family Life
Bahar Soomekh married Clayton Frech in 2001. They have three children together. One of their children is Ezra Frech. Ezra was born missing part of his left leg and some fingers on his left hand.
Ezra is an amazing athlete. He won two gold medals at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. In 2014, he was even a finalist for the Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year award.
