Baidu Baike (which means 百度百科 in Chinese) is an online encyclopedia. Think of it like a huge digital library of information, similar to Wikipedia, but it's owned by Baidu. Baidu is a very popular search engine in China, much like Google is in many other parts of the world.

Baidu Baike first started helping people find information in 2006. It has grown a lot since then!

How Big is Baidu Baike?

Baidu Baike is one of the largest online encyclopedias. By August 2013, it already had about five million articles. To give you an idea of how big that is, the Chinese Wikipedia had about 700,000 articles at that time.

By early 2018, Baidu Baike had grown even more, reaching around fifteen million articles. The Chinese Wikipedia had also grown, to about one million articles. This shows just how much information Baidu Baike offers its users.
