This article is about Bald Hills, Shasta County, California. For other uses, see Bald Hills, California (disambiguation).
Bald Hills is a place in Humboldt County, California. It used to be a small settlement. It is located about 10 miles (16 km) southeast of a town called Orick. Back in 1862, people described Bald Hills as being between Trinidad and Orleans Bar. It was also just a day's trip from Fort Gaston.
Bald Hills had its own post office for a while. It opened on November 25, 1867, and closed on January 23, 1878. Some old news reports suggest there might have been a post office even earlier, around 1862. One report mentioned that the Bald Hills post office was burned down at the same time as another one in Albeeville.
The name "Bald Hills" comes from the nearby hills that don't have many trees on them.
