Ballentine's Past
Ballentine got its name from the Ballentine family. They were some of the first people to settle and live in this area a long time ago.
Back in 1925, Ballentine was much smaller, with only about 50 people living there. Over the years, there have been attempts to make Ballentine an official town. However, these attempts have not been successful so far.
One important historical place in the community is the John Jacob Calhoun Koon Farmstead. This old farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. This means it's a special place recognized for its history.
