Baltoro Kangri is a tall mountain in the Karakoram mountain range. It is also known as the Golden Throne. This impressive peak is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan.
Baltoro Kangri stands south of the famous Gasherbrum mountains. It is also found east of Chogolisa Peak, which is 7,665 meters (25,148 feet) high.
Glaciers and the Mountain
One of the most amazing features near Baltoro Kangri is the huge Baltoro Glacier. This glacier is one of the largest ice rivers outside of the North and South Poles! It actually starts right at the base of Baltoro Kangri.
To the north of Baltoro Kangri, you can find another important glacier called the Abruzzi Glacier. Glaciers are like very slow-moving rivers of ice. They are formed over many years as snow piles up and turns into ice.
Where is Baltoro Kangri?
Baltoro Kangri is part of the Karakoram mountain range. The Karakoram is a large chain of mountains in Asia. It stretches across parts of Pakistan, India, and China. This range is known for having some of the world's highest peaks. Many of these peaks are over 7,000 meters (23,000 feet) tall.
The mountain is located in the Skardu District of Pakistan. This area is famous for its stunning mountain views and challenging climbing routes.
