Bambi, A Life in the Woods is a famous book written by Austrian author Felix Salten. Its original German title is Bambi: Eine Lebensgeschichte aus dem Walde. The book was first published in 1923. It tells the story of a young Roe deer named Bambi as he grows up in the forest.
From Book to Big Screen
The story of Bambi became even more famous when Walt Disney Productions turned it into an animated movie. The film, simply called Bambi, was released in 1942. It is one of Disney's most loved classic films.
A second movie, Bambi II, came out in 2006. This film tells a story that happens in the middle of the first movie. In the Disney films, Bambi is shown as a White-tailed deer, which is a different type of deer than in the book.
