Banes is a city and a municipality in the Holguín Province of Cuba. It's a place with a rich past. Long ago, it was an important home for the native Taino people. This was even before Christopher Columbus arrived.
Today, Banes is a popular spot for tourists. Many visitors come from the nearby resort town of Guardalavaca. Both Banes and Guardalavaca are part of the same municipality. There's also a special museum between the two towns. It teaches all about the ancient Taino culture.
