The Bank of America Plaza is a very tall building in Los Angeles, California. It has 55 floors and is one of the tallest buildings in the city. It was finished in 1974 and is used for offices. Many important companies have their offices here.

Bank of America Plaza
A Landmark Skyscraper
The Bank of America Plaza is a huge office building in downtown Los Angeles. It stands 224 meters (735 feet) tall. This makes it the fifth tallest building in Los Angeles. When it was built in 1974, it was known as Security Pacific Plaza. It was home to Security Pacific National Bank.
Later, Bank of America bought Security Pacific Bank. That's when the building's name changed. In 2009, it was the most valuable office building in Los Angeles County. This means it was worth more money than any other office building there.
Unique Design
When the building was constructed, it had a special design. Its four sides faced exactly north, south, east, and west. This was quite unique for buildings in downtown Los Angeles at that time.
Famous Appearances
You might have seen the Bank of America Plaza in movies and TV shows!
- In the movie The Towering Inferno, the plaza area was filmed. It pretended to be part of a building in San Francisco.
- It was also used as the lawyer's office in the movie Pretty Woman.
- In The Muppets movie, it was Tex Richman's office headquarters.
- The building was also shown as the headquarters for the fictional company Denver-Carrington in the TV show Dynasty.
The Beautiful Plaza
The building sits on a large area of land, about 4.21 acres. This space has a beautiful formal garden. You can find over 200 trees there. There are also three waterfalls, each 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall.
Right in front of the main entrance, there is a famous sculpture. It's called "Four Arches" and was made by Alexander Calder. This sculpture is 42 feet (12.8 meters) tall.
