Bao Xishun (born November 2, 1951) is a Chinese herdsman. He comes from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. For a time, he was known as the world's tallest living man. Guinness World Records recognized his height. He stands at 2.36 meters (7 feet 9 inches) tall. In September 2009, Sultan Kösen became the new tallest living man.

Bao Xishun's Journey to Fame
Bao Xishun says he was a normal height until he was 16 years old. He served in the People's Liberation Army for three years. After that, he went back to Inner Mongolia. He lived with his mother and worked at a local hospital. In 2005, he became famous as the world's tallest man. Bao has a health condition called rheumatism. This can cause pain in his joints.
Helping Animals with His Height
In December 2006, Bao Xishun used his unique height to help two dolphins. The dolphins had accidentally swallowed plastic pieces. These pieces got stuck in their stomachs. This made them lose their appetite and feel sad. Veterinarians tried to help but could not reach the plastic. Bao Xishun used his very long arms, which are 1.06 meters (3 feet 6 inches) long. He reached into the dolphins' stomachs. He was able to remove the plastic by hand. This amazing act saved the dolphins' lives.

Marriage and Parenthood
Bao Xishun married Xia Shujuan on March 24, 2007. She was a saleswoman. They had a traditional Mongolian wedding ceremony. This special event took place on July 12, 2007. Their son was born on October 2, 2008. He was born at a hospital in Zunhua, Hebei province.
Television Appearance
Bao Xishun also appeared on a TV show. He was on the eleventh episode of The Amazing Race 16. He greeted the contestants at the "Pit Stop." This episode was shown on May 2, 2010.
