Barbados is a popular dansband from Sweden. A dansband is a type of Swedish band that plays dance music. The band started in 1992. They have had many hit songs on the Swedish record charts, which show the most popular songs.

The first lead singer of Barbados was Magnus Carlsson. The band became very well-known in 2000. This was after they came in second place in the Melodifestivalen contest. This is a big music competition in Sweden.

Over the years, Barbados has changed its lead singer three times. Magnus Carlsson left the band in 2002. He later joined another famous group called Alcazar. After Magnus, Mathias Holmgren became the lead singer. Mathias was a student from a TV show called Fame Factory. He sang with Barbados until 2004. Then, Chris Lindh took over as lead singer. Chris left the band in 2007. The current lead singer of Barbados is Björn Lagerström.

Barbados won its first important music award, a Grammis Award, in February 2000.

Melodifestivalen Contest

Barbados has taken part in the Melodifestivalen music contest four times. This contest chooses Sweden's song for the Eurovision Song Contest.

  • 2001: Their song was Allt som jag ser. They also finished in second place.
  • 2002: Their song was Världen utanför. They came in fourth place.
  • 2003: Their song was Bye, Bye. They finished in tenth place.

Both former lead singers, Mathias Holmgren and Magnus Carlsson, have also competed in Melodifestivalen as solo artists.
