The Barber Neighborhood is a friendly place where people live in Chico, California. It's located south of Little Chico Creek and west of Park Avenue. A group called the Barber Neighborhood Association helps speak up for the people living here.
This area started as a small town called Barber, California. It was built for the workers of the nearby Diamond Match Factory. The neighborhood got its name from Ohio Columbus Barber. He was the president of the Diamond Match Company. It sits about 190 feet (58 meters) above sea level. Now, the Barber Neighborhood is part of the city of Chico. The old Diamond Match property will become a new area called Barber Yard.
