Line 3, also known as the Green Line, is a very important metro line in Barcelona. It helps thousands of people travel around the city every day. This line is officially called Zona Universitària - Trinitat Nova. It is operated by TMB, the main public transport company in Barcelona.

How Line 3 Grew Over Time

This is how Line 3 has expanded over the years:

  • 1924: The first part of the line opened. It connected Catalunya and Lesseps.
  • 1925: Fontana station opened. The line also stretched from Catalunya to Liceu.
  • 1926: The section from Passeig de Gràcia to Jaume I opened.
  • 1934: The line reached Correos from Jaume I.
  • 1946: The section from Liceu to Fernando was added.
  • 1968: The line extended from Fernando to Drassanes.
  • 1970: Drassanes to Paral·lel section opened.
  • 1972: The Passeig de Gràcia to Correos section closed.
  • 1975: A new section opened from Paral·lel to Zona Universitària. It was first called L3B.
  • 1982: The L3B section became part of the main Line 3.
  • 1985: The line extended from Lesseps to Montbau.
  • 2001: The Montbau to Canyelles section opened.
  • 2008: The line reached its current end, from Canyelles to Trinitat Nova.
