How old is Barcial de la Loma?
Barcial de la Loma is a very old town. It was already known by the year 1095. Back then, it was called Barceale de Lomba.
Royal support for the town
In 1197, King Alfonso de León gave special rights to a nearby town called Castroverde de Campos. These rights also helped Barcial de la Loma grow and develop.
Barcial de la Loma during the Comuneros Revolt
During a big conflict called the War of the Communities, Barcial de la Loma played a part. The town's tower, which was like a small fortress, was controlled by a group called the Holy Board. This war was a fight between the people and the king's power in the early 1500s.
