A Bit of History
For a few years, from October 8, 1909, to April 23, 1913, Bard was known by a slightly different name: Bard City. It had its own post office for a long time, from January 30, 1908, until November 26, 1991. Even though the post office is closed, Bard still has its own ZIP code, which is 88411.
What Was There?
In the past, Bard was a bit busier. It used to have a gas station where people could fill up their cars. There was also a repair garage to fix vehicles. In 1946, about 26 people lived in Bard. Today, it's a very small community.
