Later, in 1884, a cattle rancher named Joseph G. Marriott bought the home. He was the first person to bring a special type of cow called Holstein cattle to Jefferson County. This old house is now known as the Parkton Mansion.
The community of Barnhart didn't get its name until the early 1900s. This was after the Frisco Railroad was finished. It's thought that the town might have been named after Mrs. C. L. Barnhart. She gave land for the Frisco Railroad Depot, which was an important train station.
