History of Bartlett Station

When Was the Station Built?

The original train building, called a depot, in Bartlett was built a long time ago in 1873. This old building was special. It was the last original depot left on what was once the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad line.

Modern Updates to the Station

Metra, the company that runs the trains, rebuilt the Bartlett station. This big project happened between 2004 and 2007. The new station officially opened on December 11, 2007. The very first station building from 1873 was not torn down. Instead, it was turned into a local railroad museum. This means you can still visit it today!

How the Station Works Today

Platforms for Trains

The Bartlett station has two main areas where trains stop. Trains heading east towards Chicago stop at the newer station building. This new station has a platform on the south side of the tracks. Trains heading west stop across from the old station building. This side has a platform on the north side of the tracks.

Getting Around the Station

The new station's platform has one special walkway for people to cross the tracks. This crossing is located on the far west side of the platform. The station also has more parking spaces now, which is helpful for commuters. However, because trains stop at different spots depending on their direction, people sometimes have to walk a bit further to catch their train.
