The Bass Pro Complex is a shopping area located next to the Champlain Place mall. You can find it in the city of Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada. This city is close to Moncton.
History of the Complex
The complex first opened its doors on February 15, 1990. It was known as Crystal Palace back then. The company Cadillac Fairview owned it.
From Fun Park to Fishing Store
Crystal Palace was mainly an indoor amusement park. It also had a restaurant called McGinnis Landing and a hotel.
On July 31, 2014, Cadillac Fairview announced big news. They said Crystal Palace would close for good on September 1, 2014. This was to make room for a new store. It would be New Brunswick's first Bass Pro Shops store.
The indoor amusement park closed on September 1, 2014. It had 14 fun rides, like the Carousel and the Wave Swinger. There was also a mini golf course called Pirate's Cove. Kids could enjoy the Convoy, Jumping' Star, and Tree House rides. Other rides included Crazy Submarine, Rio Grande, and Red Baron. There were also Crazy Kars, Bullet, and Lazer Runner.
The park also had a video game arcade. You could find small snack places too, like Pretzelmaker and Wazzoos. All these places closed to make way for Bass Pro Shops.
By October 31, 2014, the Ramada hotel also closed. The McGinnis Landing Restaurant and the Convention Centre closed too. Since then, the Crystal Palace building has become a Bass Pro Shops location.
