Bassett is a small, quiet community located in the southwestern part of Kenosha County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It's considered an "unincorporated community," which means it's not officially a city or a town with its own separate government. Instead, it's part of the larger Town of Randall. You can find the Randall Town Hall right here in Bassett!
A Look Back: Bassett's History
Early Days and Founding
The story of Bassett began in 1842. That's when a man named Henry Bassett and his son, Reuben, first settled here. They bought about 120 acres of land. This was six years before Wisconsin even became an official state!
The Railroad Arrives
Later in the 1800s, more people started moving to Bassett. This happened especially when the Kenosha and Rockford Railroad was built right through the community. Henry Bassett even helped by giving some of his land for the railroad tracks. This new railroad helped the community grow.
A Name Change
The community was first known as "Bassett's Station" because of the train stop. Later, it was simply called "Bassetts." The railroad was used for many years, but it was finally closed down in May 1939.
