The Real Bird family has put on their Battle of Little Bighorn Reenactment since 1995. This event happens near the Little Bighorn River. It is located between Crow Agency and Garryowen, in Montana. The reenactment site is right across the river from Medicine Tail Coulee. This is a place where some of the real fighting might have happened.
Custer's Last Stand Reenactment
The Hardin Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture also holds a yearly event. It is called Custer's Last Stand Reenactment. This show takes place about 6 miles outside of Hardin, Montana. The story for this reenactment was written in 1965 by Joe Medicine Crow. He was a famous historian and a member of the Crow Tribe. His script tells about the important events that led up to the battle.
This reenactment has been held every year since the early 1990s. However, the 2015 event was canceled because of high costs. The 2020 reenactment was also canceled due to the COVID pandemic. A new reenactment was planned for 2021.
