Early Life and School
Bea de Leon went to St. Paul College, Pasig for grade school. She then attended Saint Pedro Poveda College for high school. In high school, she became the captain of her girls' volleyball team. When she graduated from Poveda, she received the Athlete of the Year award for volleyball.
Bea was a great student at Ateneo de Manila University. She often made the Dean's List and earned a degree in AB Management Economics. In 2018, she was a finalist for the Ambrosio Padilla Athlete of the Year Award. This award recognizes university athletes who are excellent in both their studies and sports.
In 2023, she completed her Masters degree in Sustainability Management at Ateneo. A special scholarship was also created at Ateneo in her name.
College Volleyball Career
Bea's parents, Det and Elmer, and her brother, Loel, all went to De La Salle University. This university has a long-standing sports rivalry with Ateneo. Bea first wanted to go to La Salle for college. However, she decided to go to Ateneo because her chosen course was not available at La Salle at that time. Also, she lived closer to Ateneo. Famous Ateneo players like Alyssa Valdez and Denden Lazaro also helped her decide to switch schools.
In her very first game in UAAP Season 77, Bea de Leon was a starting player for the Ateneo Lady Eagles. As a 5-foot-11 middle blocker, she quickly became a strong player for the defending champions. She was known for her powerful quick attacks and blocks. Bea was a top contender for the Rookie of the Year Award, averaging 9 points per game. However, in the middle of the season, she hurt her right index finger during practice. This injury kept her from playing for two weeks, and she missed three games. She returned for the last game of the elimination round. She helped her team reach the finals by scoring 11 points against their main rival, the De La Salle Lady Spikers. The Lady Eagles successfully defended their title against the Lady Spikers and finished the season with a perfect record of 16 wins and 0 losses.
During her first year at Ateneo, Bea was chosen to be part of the National Team. This team represented the Philippines in the 2015 SEA Games held in Singapore.
In the college conference of Shakey's V-League Season 12, Bea de Leon was recognized as the 2nd Best Middle Blocker.
After Ateneo lost in UAAP Season 78, UAAP Season 79, and UAAP Season 80, Bea was unsure if she would play her fifth and final year with the Lady Eagles. In 2018, she signed with the Foton Tornadoes to start her semi-professional volleyball career in the Philippine Super Liga. She played alongside Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago. After two months of thinking, Bea decided to play her final season in the UAAP. She served as a co-captain with Maddie Madayag for UAAP Season 81. With her leadership, Ateneo won their third championship against the UST Golden Tigresses. Bea de Leon was named the Finals MVP for her outstanding performance.
Bea de Leon also represented Ateneo in the UAAP beach volleyball championships in 2017.
Professional Volleyball Career
When they moved to the professional league, Bea de Leon and Maddie Madayag joined the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the Premier Volleyball League in 2019. They played under coach Oliver Almadro, and both became team captains. In 2024, Bea de Leon, along with Denden Lazaro, moved to the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Other Activities
Bea de Leon is also a co-horse breeder with her father, Elmer. They own Bell Racing Stable. Their horse, "Bea Bell," won the 2023 PHILRACOM "2-Year-Old Maiden Stakes Race" and the October 22, 2023 "2nd Leg Juvenile Stakes Race" at the Metro Manila Turf Club Race Track.
