History of Bear Creek
The village of Bear Creek was officially started in November 1997.
Geography of Bear Creek
Bear Creek is located in the northern part of Hays County. The big city of Austin is next to it on the north and east sides. Bear Creek is about 16 miles (26 km) southwest of downtown Austin by road.
The northern edge of the village is the border with Travis County. The eastern edge follows a road called Ranch to Market Road 1826.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers a total area of about 1.14 square miles (2.96 square kilometers). All of this area is land. The Bear Creek, which the village is named after, flows about 0.3 miles (0.5 km) south of the village limits. This creek is part of the Onion Creek area, which eventually flows into the Colorado River.
