How Was Bear Lake Formed?
Bear Lake was created a very long time ago during the ice age. During this time, huge sheets of ice called glaciers moved across the land. As a glacier slowly moved down the mountain, it carved out the basin where the lake now sits.
When the glacier melted, it left behind piles of rocks and dirt called moraines. You can still see some of these moraines downhill from Bear Lake today. They are like natural dams that helped to form the lake.
