Beasley Fork is a small, unincorporated community in Adams County, Ohio, in the U.S. state of Ohio. This means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Beasley Fork
Beasley Fork got its name from Beasley Fork, which is a small river that flows into Ohio Brush Creek. A post office was opened here in 1855. It helped people send and receive mail for many years, until 1902.
Many early settlers helped build the community. Charles Fields was one of the very first people to settle in Beasley Fork. James Collings built a house that looked over the valley, but it's not there anymore. Another old log cabin was built by General Darlinton on a ridge nearby.
Churches were important to the community. The Union Methodist Episcopal Church was started in 1856. Later, the Beasley's Fork Christian Church was formed in 1864, and its current building was built in 1871.
Other early residents included Nathaniel Foster, Sr., and James Hemphill, who settled here in 1797. Robert A. Mitchell was born in Beasley's Fork. His father owned and ran a sawmill (for cutting wood) and a gristmill (for grinding grain).
Geography of Beasley Fork
