About Beatrice Gormley

Beatrice Gormley was born in Glendale, California, on October 15, 1942. She loved reading so much that she wanted to be a writer from the young age of nine.

She went to Pomona College and later worked as an editor for books. In 1979, she wrote her very first book. Her first published book came out when she was 39 years old.

Beatrice often visits schools to talk to students. She teaches them how important it is to check their work and rewrite it to make it better.

In 2008, she wrote a biography about Barack Obama, Our 44th President. Her picture book from 2021, Joe Biden: Our 46th President, was named one of the Best Books of the Year in 2022 by the Bank Street Children's Book Committee.

Beatrice is currently writing a historical novel for young readers.

Beatrice's Family Life

Beatrice lives in Massachusetts with her husband, Robert. Robert is also an editor. They have two daughters named Katie and Jenny.
