Bee Hive, also known as Beehive, is a small community in Lee County, Alabama, United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live, but it's managed by the larger county government.
Bee Hive is part of the bigger Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Area. This area includes several cities and communities that are close to each other.
What's in a Name?
The name "Bee Hive" has an interesting origin. It was first named after an apiary, which is a place where bees are kept. This apiary was located along Wire Road, near the border of Macon County. So, the community got its name from a place where lots of bees lived and made honey!
Today, the Bee Hive community is located near the southwest edge of Auburn, a larger city in Alabama.
