Beechina is a small area, also called a locality, located in the Shire of Mundaring in Western Australia. Think of a locality as a specific neighborhood or small community within a larger region. The name "Beechina" comes from the Nyungar language, which is spoken by the Aboriginal people who are the traditional owners of this land. It means a valley where "white gum" trees grow. These are a type of Eucalyptus tree. The name was first written down in 1847 by a surveyor named P. Chauncy. He was mapping the very first road that went to a town called Northam.
