Beesley's Point is a small community in Upper Township. It is located in Cape May County, in the state of New Jersey. This area is considered an "unincorporated community." This means it's a place with a shared identity but without its own local government.
It is also a "census-designated place" (CDP). This is a special area the U.S. Census Bureau defines for gathering population data. Beesley's Point sits right on Peck Bay, directly across from Ocean City.
You might know Beesley's Point for its Beesley's Point Generating Station. This is a large power plant. It was also once home to one end of the Beesley's Point Bridge, which is now closed.
Population and History
Beesley's Point was first officially listed as a census-designated place in 2020. At that time, its population was 816 people.
The community has a history that goes back to the 1800s. A post office was set up here in 1851. Joseph Chatten was the very first postmaster, helping to deliver mail to the residents.
Schools and Education
Students living in Beesley's Point attend schools within two different districts. For younger students, from kindergarten through 8th grade, they go to the Upper Township School District.
When students are ready for high school, they attend the Ocean City School District. This district operates Ocean City High School.
