Belmonte de Gracián (Aragonese: Belmón de Grazián) is a small, historic village in Spain. It is located near the city of Calatayud in the province of Zaragoza, which is part of the Aragon region. This village is special because it's built around a 15th-century castle, making it a "fortified village." This means it was designed to be protected, often with walls or a strong castle.

The village is famous for being the birthplace of Baltasar Gracián y Morales. He was an important writer and philosopher. In 1985, the village was renamed Belmonte de Gracián to honor him. Before that, it was known by other names like Belmonte de Calatayud and Belmonte del Río Perejiles.

Near Belmonte de Gracián, you can find ancient ruins. These are the remains of an old town called Segeda-Sekeiza. It was once home to the Celtiberians, who were ancient people of the Iberian Peninsula, and later had Roman influences.

Historic Castle of Belmonte

The village sits at the foot of a large castle. This castle was built in the 15th century and has an oval shape. Castles like this were very important for protecting the people who lived in the village long ago.

St. Michael's Church

The Church of St. Michael is another important building. It was built in the 15th century in a style called Gothic. This style often features tall arches and detailed stone work. The church also has a special bell tower built in the Mudéjar style. Mudéjar is a unique Spanish architectural style that blends Christian and Islamic art.
