Ben Hur or Benhur is a small place in Limestone County, Texas, in the United States. It's not a city or town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. You can find it about 25 miles east of Waco.
This community was first started in the late 1800s and was called "Cottonwood." But in 1895, its name was changed to "Ben Hur." This change happened because there were already many other places in Texas named "Cottonwood." The new name might have been chosen to honor Lew Wallace, who wrote the famous book Ben Hur.
Ben Hur even had its own post office for a while, from 1895 until 1906.
