Benjamin Anthony Johnson (born 24 January 2000) is an English professional footballer. He plays as a full-back for Premier League club Ipswich Town. A full-back is a defender who plays on the side of the field.

Early Life and Family

Ben Johnson was born in Waltham Forest, London. He has some famous family members who also played football. His second cousins are Paul Parker and Ledley King. Both played for England and big clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ben went to Davenant Foundation School in Loughton, Essex. He is a Christian and attends All Saints Church in Woodford Green.

Playing for West Ham United

Ben joined West Ham United when he was just seven years old. At first, he played as an attacking winger. But as he grew older, he changed to play as a full-back.

He signed his first professional contract when he turned 18 in January 2018. Ben made his first game in the Premier League for West Ham on 27 February 2019. This was against Manchester City.

After some injuries, Ben played again on 17 July 2020. He scored his first goal for West Ham on 27 December 2020. This goal helped his team draw 2–2 against Brighton & Hove Albion.

In August 2021, Ben won West Ham's Young Player of the Season award. He played 20 games for the first team that season. He won this award again in May 2022. It was then called the Mark Noble Award.

On 20 March 2022, Ben played his 50th game for West Ham. He left the club in June 2024. He played 109 games in total for West Ham. He was also part of the team that won the 2023 Europa Conference League. This was a big European trophy!

Joining Ipswich Town

On 1 July 2024, Ben Johnson joined Ipswich Town. This team had just been promoted to the Premier League. He signed a four-year contract with them.

Playing for England

Ben first played for the England U21 squad on 29 March 2022. This was during a game against Albania.

In June 2023, Ben was chosen to play in the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The England U21 team won this big tournament!
