Ben Strong, born on September 18, 1986, is an American basketball coach. He used to be a professional basketball player. Ben is also part of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, a Native American tribe.

College Basketball Career

Ben Strong grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was born in Manassas, Virginia. After finishing Chapel Hill High School in 2004, he went to Guilford College. This college is an NCAA Division III school in Greensboro, North Carolina.

During his four years at Guilford, Ben became one of their best players. He ranks second in the college's history for total points scored (2231). He is also second in blocked shots (236) and seventh in rebounds (927). Ben won many awards while playing for Guilford. One of his biggest awards was being named the NCAA Division 3 Player of the Year.

Ben helped the Guilford Quakers win one Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship. He also led them to play in the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament twice. In March 2007, he set a new record for the NCAA Division III Tournament. He scored an amazing 59 points in one game. This was during a triple-overtime win against Lincoln University (Pennsylvania).

Professional Basketball Career

Ben Strong started his professional basketball career in 2008. He joined Maccabi Haifa B.C. in the Israeli Premier League. After playing in Israel, he moved to the Netherlands for a short time. Then he returned to Israel to play again.

Later, Ben played in the NBA Development League (now called the NBA G League). He played in 183 regular season games there. He averaged about 7.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He also played in two playoff games, where he did even better. In the fall of 2015, he played briefly in Uruguay for a team called Atletico Welcome.

Ben finished his professional playing career in New Zealand. He played for the Nelson Giants in his final season. He was recognized as the Australiabasket.com All-New Zealand NBL Center of the Year. In 2018, he also played for the "We are D3" team in The Basketball Tournament.

Coaching Career

After he stopped playing basketball in 2016, Ben Strong began coaching. In the fall of 2016, he became an assistant men's basketball coach at Huntingdon College.

In 2018, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers team. He worked as a player development specialist. This means he helped players improve their skills. On June 26, 2019, he moved to the Phoenix Suns. There, he continued to work as a player development coach.

In 2021, Ben was hired by the Long Island Nets. This team is part of the NBA G League. He worked as their head video coordinator and player development coach.
