Benclare was officially started a long time ago, on September 24, 1888. A man named Benjamin Richards, who was from New York, founded it.
How Benclare Got Its Name
Benjamin Richards named the community after his two sons. He combined parts of their names: "Ben" from Benjamin and "Clare" from Clarence. That's how the unique name "Benclare" came to be!
