Benhar is a small town in New Zealand. It is located in South Otago, a region in the country's South Island. The town is about five kilometers east of Balclutha. It is also very close to a small lake called Lake Tuakitoto.

Benhar was once home to one of New Zealand's biggest factories. This factory made porcelain products. It closed in 1990 after a large fire. The factory first made ceramic pipes and bricks. These were used to build up the city of Dunedin. Later, it started making pottery and bathroom fixtures. These items were sent out from the factory's own train yard. The factory was owned by Peter McSkimming senior and later by his son, Peter McSkimming junior.
