Bradley first served in the United States Army. He fought in the Mexican War. Later, during the American Civil War, he joined the Confederate States Army. He became a major in the 1st Battalion, Kentucky Mounted Rifles.

Political Career

From 1864 to 1865, Bradley was a politician. He was chosen to represent Kentucky. He served in the Second Confederate Congress. This was like the government for the Confederate states.

Life After the War

After the Civil War ended, Bradley went back to Kentucky. He took an Oath of Allegiance. This meant he promised to be loyal to the United States again. He continued his work as a lawyer. In 1889, he served in the Kentucky State Senate. This is part of Kentucky's state government.
