Benoît Pedretti's Football Journey
Benoît Pedretti started his professional football career in 1999. He played for five different clubs in France during his career. After retiring as a player, he became a football manager.
Starting Strong at Sochaux
Pedretti began his journey at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 1999. He quickly became an important player for the team. In 2001, he helped Sochaux win the Division 2 championship. This win meant the team was promoted to the top league, Ligue 1.
In the 2002–03 Ligue 1 season, he played in 35 league games. Sochaux also reached the final of the Coupe de la Ligue (League Cup) that year. They lost to Monaco, but it was a great achievement. The team even qualified for European football, playing in the UEFA Cup.
Short Stays at Marseille and Lyon
In 2004, Pedretti moved to Olympique de Marseille. He found it a bit tough to get a regular spot in the starting team. The club had many changes in players and coaches that season.
After one season, he moved to Olympique Lyonnais in 2005. Lyon had many talented midfielders, so Pedretti often found himself on the bench. He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League, which is a very big European competition. He played 21 league games in his only season there.
Finding His Place at Auxerre
Pedretti decided to make a fresh start and joined AJ Auxerre in 2006. This move was great for him, as he became a key player in their midfield. He played regularly for several years. During his time at Auxerre, he also played in the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
In the 2007–08 season, he became the captain of Auxerre. He continued to play very well, even scoring an important goal against his former team, Marseille, in the League Cup. He stayed at Auxerre for five years, playing 170 games. He was a very important part of the team.
Moving to Lille and Ajaccio
In 2011, Pedretti joined Lille OSC, who were the league champions at the time. He was brought in to replace another important player. Pedretti was excited about the new challenges at Lille.
On 4 August 2013, he signed a two-year deal with AC Ajaccio. In his second game for the club, he scored an amazing goal from 20 yards out against PSG. Ajaccio decided not to renew his contract in 2015, making him a free agent.
Finishing His Playing Days at Nancy
On 1 August 2015, Pedretti signed with AS Nancy Lorraine. He played for Nancy until January 2018. After struggling with injuries, he announced his retirement from professional football. He then took on a new role as an assistant coach for the team.
